Jason Keeps His Active Lifestyle Up to Speed

Limited by Back Pain

For Jason Williams, running is a form of therapy. “If I don't run, I feel like I get somewhat depressed,” he says. “I become somewhat of a bear to live with because that's how I clear my head from the PTSD issues that I have post-Afghanistan.”

As an ER nurse and a senior nurse executive in the Navy Reserves, Jason also enjoys CrossFit workouts, dirt bike riding, hunting and fishing. But over the years, back pain brought about by the rigors of his deployments began to limit his activity. He had to identify a solution. Fortunately, he found the RS-4i® Plus

From Skeptical to Pain-Free

Jason’s first encounter with the RS-4i Plus came when his colleague at the VA, a pain pharmacist, suggested that he try it.

Since he had used various TENS units in the past, Jason was skeptical. Before his visit to the Physical Therapy clinic, he even did exercises that would normally cause his back pain. He wanted to see what the device could do.

“The first day I tried it, I think my pain level was at a 5 or 6,” he said. “Once the RS-4i Plus device had done its thing, I actually got up and I had no pain.”

After his first treatment, Jason started going into the PT clinic regularly. He eventually got his own unit, along with an RS-LBG™ Low Back Garment and RS-FGB™ Full Back Garment

“With the RS-4i® Plus, I can continue to do the things I love – the things that I need to function for my own mental health. That’s huge for me.”

Running Past Pain – And Beyond

Jason no longer has to run from pain. In fact, the RS-4i Plus allows him to address it head-on.

“The RS-4 device is one that I know I can rely on after any of my runs – to put it on and get relief. So typically I don't get concerned anymore about the pain I may be in post-run,” he says.

But the RS-4i Plus hasn’t just affected his back pain. It has also improved his life in other areas.

“In terms of my relationship with my wife and others, when you’re in pain or angry or depressed, you’re probably not near as social. So it’s really helped me in that sense too.”

Now that Jason treats his back pain with the RS-4i Plus, he’s been enjoying getting up to speed again.

“I would tell somebody who has used a TENS unit in the past that they really should take a chance,” says Jason. “The RS-4i Plus has changed my thoughts on this type of therapy completely – because the proof is in the pudding.”

The Proof is in the Numbers

The RS-4i Plus is an advanced home-use electrotherapy device that combines high frequency (5000 Hz) Interferential Therapy (IFT) for long-lasting pain relief, with Neuromuscular Electrical Stimulation (NMES) for muscle rehabilitation. Patented Intersperse technology delivers both IFT and NMES during the same, uninterrupted treatment session. This excites the body’s natural beta-endorphin production to relieve pain for up to 8 hours, and provides rehabilitative muscle therapy that reduces muscle spasms, increases circulation and prevents disuse atrophy.

We’ve collected data from over 30,000 patients and the profound results speak for themselves*:

  • 84% of patients experience pain relief.

  • 73% of patients get relief that lasts over 2 hours.

  • 45% of patients experience a 50% reduction in pain.

*Data was collected from over 30,000 patients by RS Medical representatives in-person and over the phone. The assessment questions used have been adapted from the Defense & Veterans Pain Rating Scale (DVPRS).
