The RS-4i® Plus Got Roland Back on His Feet
“I lived with this pain for years.”
That’s how Roland felt after a 40-year career working in the military. Unlike some soldiers, though, Roland spent time serving his country in an office setting as a quality engineer.
He says that so many years of sitting at a computer – many of them occurring before workplace furnishings were ergonomic – caused his condition of chronic back pain. He describes how his injury emerged like a “slow sprain.” His back even got bad enough that he had to give up one of his favorite activities – running.

Initial Treatments Provided Little Relief
Turning to the VA for treatment, Roland was prescribed medication – which he felt didn’t work. He was also given a TENS unit.
“The TENS unit worked a little bit,” he says. “Mainly it hurt more than it worked.”
Finally, he went to the VA for physical therapy on his lower back. It was there that his therapist suggested treatment with an RS-4i® Plus with Intersperse.

“I just connect the low back garment to the RS-4i Plus and wrap it around my waist,” he says. Then he would start the Intersperse program.
“I do the five minutes of pain relief, and the five minutes of muscle work, and then the 25-minute combination.” He found that this combination was key for knocking down his pain. In fact, he says he had never felt that type of relief.
Roland began using the device in the morning and in the evening. After about two weeks, he was able to get out and start walking. After a month, he was back to doing his normal physical activities – which include running.
