The RS-4i® Plus Delivers Life Changing Benefits for Terry
Riding motorcycles was a passion for Terry. He started out on smaller street bikes and moved up to larger ones. The thrill of the open road appealed to him. “It’s just a feeling of freedom,” he says. “I mean, when I compare it to my time in the Army, I was in the Airborne and did a lot of parachute drops.”
As a result of injuries suffered during and after his time in the military, Terry’s physical mobility was compromised. Riding a motorcycle became nearly impossible.
Injuries Lead to Pain and Depression
“I blew out both my knees on active duty and was in pain all the time,” he says. “I had complete knee replacements in both knees.”
Six years later he injured his right knee again. He learned it couldn’t be repaired, that he would deal with constant pain indefinitely. Then came the shoulder injuries. “The first time I hurt my right shoulder. Blew it out. Three years later, which was last year, I blew out my left shoulder.”
Those injuries reduced his mobility and led to a cycle of pain and depression. “I was extremely depressed, to the point where they actually put me on medication. I hurt all the time. I’d wake up in pain, I’d go to bed in pain. I was in a downward spiral.”
Timely Suggestion of the RS-4i Plus Turns His Life Around
That’s when his physical therapist introduced him to the RS-4i Plus for his left shoulder. “After the first time using it, he came in and asked how I felt,” Terry recalls. “It’s great. I can actually move my arm. It’s fantastic. I went back to work with no pain.”
He soon got a device to use at home and decided to try it on the other shoulder. The results were similar. “Now I have hardly any pain in my right shoulder and great movement,” he says. “Before, I could raise my arms (to shoulder level) and it hurt. Now I have great movement and no pain.”
“It’s absolutely life changing. Before, I could only ride for 20-25 minutes, max,” he says. “I’d have to put ice on my shoulders they hurt so bad. Now, with the RS-4i, it’s nothing for me to get on my bike and ride for 2-3 hours.”
Marty enjoys taking his wife for rides and his two grandkids love going for rides, too. He reflects, “My life has improved 100% since I’ve got that machine.”
Breaking Down a Treatment with the RS-4i Plus
The RS-4i Plus is an advanced home-use electrotherapy device that combines high-frequency (5000 Hz) Interferential Therapy (IFT) and Neuromuscular Electrical Stimulation (NMES) into one 35-minute treatment with patented Intersperse technology. Let’s take a closer look:
Step One: Pain Relief with Interferential Therapy (IFT): RS-4i Plus Intersperse treatments begin with 5 minutes of Interferential Therapy (IFT), where the transmission of pain signals is blocked by a high-frequency signal that hyper-stimulates A-beta nerve fibers. Treatment can help relieve acute musculoskeletal pain or relieve and manage chronic musculoskeletal pain.
Step Two: Muscle Rehabilitation with Neuromuscular Electrical Stimulation (NMES): After IFT knocks down the pain, the RS-4i Plus shifts to 5 minutes of Neuromuscular Electrical Stimulation (NMES). During this segment, the RS-4i Plus delivers a custom waveform that causes the treated muscle to involuntarily contract, helping to relax muscle spasms, prevent or slow muscle atrophy, increase circulation, and maintain or increase range of motion.
Step Three: Intersperse Combines both IFT and NMES: Intersperse is the third and most unique segment, which combines IFT and NMES. During this 25-minute treatment, pain relief signals are delivered during the relax period of muscle stimulation – giving the patient a repeating pattern of intermittent contraction, then pain relief, then contraction. This patented intermixing of treatments provokes a beta-endorphin release that provides pain relief lasting up to 8 hours.
